About
Chapultepec's Forest is one of the most important green areas in the Urban Mexico City, it has great historic value, cultural attractions and a still living vibrant Mexican culture happening everyday, specially on Sundays when it may get extremely crowded.
It is divided in three sections, the third one is the least explored, but possibly most interesting for birds
Second Section
Also very interesting but with more open areas, which might not be a bad thing because the landscape is more heterogeneous, making it good to find different birds. It is the most birded section due to the work of local projects in the Natural History Museum
Birding Chapultepec 1st Section
Recommended route
Complete route: 4.3 Km
Approximate time: 3 - 4h (with a slow birding pace it may take more time)
Chapultepec 1st section may be combined with the visit to other near attractions, like Paseo de la Reforma, Anthropology Museum, Chapultepec's Castle, among others.
Depending on your day itinerary and entrance used, the route may be adapted, yet you may consider trying to visit some of the spots in the Bird Map.
PLEASE NOTE: The Botanical Garden's opening time is 9:00 AM. So depending on your time of arrival you may do it at the end, or the beginning, but I do recommend doing it as early as possible.
Inside the Botanical Garden you may try to find the Western Screech-Owl, but note it may move during summer months, the known couple roosts in the trees around this Birdspot.
